In US stocks market, there are over 7000 stocks. If you don’t have a good idea to screen the tickers, market screening is like to find a needle in a haystack and you are only guessing on it.

I created this spreadsheet to help others make a stock screener in spreadsheet based on Mark Minervini’s Trend Template. It is especially useful when market volatility are full of uncertainty and unpredictability.

# 8 principles on screening the stocks #.

  1. The current price of the stock/ETF must be above both 150 and 200-day simple moving averages.
  2. The 150-day simple moving average must be above the 200-day simple moving average.
  3. The 200-day simple moving average must be trending up for at least 1 month.
  4. The 50-day simple moving average must be above both 150 and 200 simple moving average.
  5. The current price must must be trading above 50-day simple moving average.
  6. The current price must be at least 30% above 52 weeks low.
  7. The current price must be within 25% of the 52 weeks high.
  8. The relative strength (RS) must be greater than 70 (the higher, the better). # The relative strength (RS) is a metric of performance over which compared to all other stocks and the overall market(SPY). Check out this article to learn more.

Now that you are familiar with the principles, we can download the spreadsheet for free.

Trying to predict the market trend can be like trying to determine the next move of sailboat; if you don’t know where the wind blow, you are only guessing on it
